We invite you to visit us.

Homes by Vanderbuilt is a licensed general contractor in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.  We have been in the modular housing business since 1984 and are privileged to have served thousands of satisfied homeowners.  We look forward to welcoming you into the Homes by Vanderbuilt family.

We currently offer a selection of over 119 modular home plans that we can build on your lot in much of NC as well as parts of SC and VA.  All of our modular homes are crane-set, meet or exceed the local residential bulding codes and qualify for the same financing terms as site-built homes.   Our modular homes typically use about 20% more lumber than conventionally framed site-built homes and feature 2x6 exterior wall construction which allows for energy efficient R-19 insulation.

31 of our home plans can be seen at our beautifully furnished and decorated display center which is centrally located in Sanford, NC.  Please enjoy browsing through our catalog of 119 modular home plans shown in the price categories above.   We can also quote derivations of these plans, custom plans and plans from other builders.

All of our display homes are open and available for you to browse through at your leisure. We will happily provide you with a price book for you to use during your visit and our experienced, professional sales staff is available to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to assist you in the selection of your new home.  We are confident that you will find visiting us well worth the drive from anywhere in our vast market area.

We hope to see you soon!

Don't confuse modular homes with manufactured homes. Modular homes are built to the exact same building code and with the same quality materials used for site-built homes and must pass the same stringent series of inspections as site-built homes.. Modular home construction actually has several advantages over site-built construction.

Advantages of Modular Home Construction

Stonger Framing

The module to module construction offers an inherent strength advantage over traditional framing. Keep in mind that the modules must be stong and rigid enough to withstand being put in place by a crane. We build with 2x6 lumber for exterior walls rather than the 2x4 lumber used by most traditional builders.

Modular homes typically use about 20% more lumber and fasteners than site-built homes and fare better than site-built homes in Hurricanes according to FEMA.

Bulk Material Purchases

Modular Home Companies purchase lumber and quality brand name materials in large quantities directly from the manufacturer resulting in lower material costs.

Controlled Environment

A climate controlled building environment reduces the intrusion of moisture and other elements during the construction process.

Less Material Waste

Efficient building processes plus materials being stored in a theft resistant location result in much less loss in materials which results in a cost savings for the home buyer.

Manufacturing Technology

State of the art construction technologies result in a more accurate, more efficient building process with fewer mistakes.

Quality Assurance

Modular Homes are built to the same local North Carolina, South Carolina or Virginia building codes as site-built homes. They are also inspected by both the factory and Independent third party engineering firms. This results in fewer construction errors and lower costs.

Shorter Construction Time

Much of the construction process takes place before the home reaches the construction site which results in a much faster occupancy time in most cases.

Engineering Plans

Modular Homes provide the necessary plans for building permits and complete construction without requiring an architect, lowering costs. We offer far more floorplans to choose from than most builders and can even customize plans

Financing Cost

Quicker construction time with fewer interest charges, result in less cost.
